What We Collect When You Hire From Us

We collect the following information in order to

  1. Hire tools and machines to you
  2. To contact you in connection with your hire contract, invoice or in order to respond to communication you have sent to us
  3. Ensure the safety and security of our building, staff, customers, visitors and contractors
  4. Prevent loss and theft

Personal Data

Recorded Images

We use CCTV in our building, shop, work yard and in our delivery vans. This gives staff and customers reassurance that we have risk management control measures in place for their safety and security. It discourages theft and crime and is used if disputes of any sort arise. Access to the CCTV system and stored images is restricted to authorised personnel. Images are deleted after 90 days.

Recorded Sound

We use voice recording software on our phone system. All callers are advised that calls are recorded by a pre-recorded welcome message before they are connected to the Hire Desk or Accounts Department.

We use this software to

  1. Protect our staff from nuisance or abusive callers
  2. To establish facts should a dispute arise

Access to the voice recordings is restricted to authorised personnel.

The voice recordings are deleted after 90 days

What We Do with the Information We Gather

All information both personal and non-personal is used for internal record keeping only.

Data which is collected is only used for the purpose for which it has been collected for.


We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online and in person.

We do not sell or distribute your data to any 3rd party organisation unless we have your permission or are required by law.

Our website in SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certified by Certificate Authorities (CAs) SSL certificates are small data files that cryptographically establish an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browser remain private.

When you visit a page on our website which is encrypted with SSL, your browser will form a connection with the web server, look at the SSL certificate, then bind your browser and the server. Our booking form and any documents uploaded on our booking form are encrypted and secure on our server.

We use Prommt 3-D Secure 2 payments to process all transaction. We keep customer payments protected using the highest level of security - PCI Level 1 Security. This system uses end to end encryption which means your payment is processed directly with your bank.

We do not access or store your payment details.

In no circumstances does a customer give over their card details to any member of our staff.

Controlling Your Personal Information

We may use your personal information to send you promotional information about third parties which we think you may find interesting if you have subscribed to our email marketing mailing list.

If you have previously agreed to us using your personal information for email marketing purposes, you may change your mind at any time by contacting us or using the unsubscribe option on the email.

If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete please contact us. We will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect.

The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) 2018 provides you, the data subject, with a right to receive a copy of the data/information we hold about you or to authorise someone to act on your behalf.
